Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair






Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal

CAUTION: Make sure that the specified amount of refrigerant oil is added.
1 Remove the cover and disconnect the battery ground cable.

2 Recover the air conditioning (A/C) refrigerant.

3 Remove the engine cover.

4 Remove the battery tray.
For additional information, refer to Battery Tray Service and Repair
5 Remove the air cleaner assembly.

6 Remove the A/C compressor, upper support bracket.




7 Remove the A/C compressor, lower support bracket.




8 Using suitable tools, release the accessory drive belt tension.





CAUTION: Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.

CAUTION: Extreme cleanliness must be exercised when handling these components.
9 Disconnect the A/C compressor refrigerant lines.





10 Remove the A/C compressor.

Installation
1 Install the A/C compressor.
Torque to: 25 Nm

CAUTION: Lubricate the new seals with clean refrigerant oil.
2 Connect the A/C compressor refrigerant lines.
Torque to: 24 Nm
3 Install the accessory drive belt.
4 Install the A/C compressor, lower support bracket.
Torque to: 25 Nm
5 Install the A/C compressor, upper support bracket.
M10: 45 Nm
M8: 25 Nm
M6: 10 Nm
6 Install the air cleaner assembly.

7 Install the battery tray.

8 Recharge the A/C system.

9 Install the engine cover.

10 Connect the battery ground cable and install the cover.
