Exterior Moulding / Trim: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. w/ Except Full Cover Type:
REMOVE SIDE STEP ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 8 bolts and the side step assembly.
b. Use the same manner described above to the other side.
2. w/ Running Board Lights:
REMOVE RUNNING BOARD LIGHTS ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 8 bolts, disconnect the connector and the running board lights assembly.
b. Use the same manner described above to the other side.
3. REMOVE FRONT MUDGUARD
a. Remove the 2 screws and the bolt.
b. Remove the front mudguard.
c. Use the same manner described above to the other side.
4. REMOVE ROCKER PANEL MOULDING
a. Remove the 10 screws.
b. Remove the rocker panel moulding.
c. Use the same manner described above to the other side.
5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER WHEEL OPENING MOULDING
a. Remove the 4 screws.
b. Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 40 - 60 degrees C (104 - 140 degrees F).
NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
c. Cut the adhesive tape with a knife.
NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Be careful not to damage the body.
d. Remove the moulding.
6. REMOVE OUTSIDE FRONT DOOR MOULDING
a. Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 40 - 60 degrees C (104 - 140 degrees F).
NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
b. Cut the adhesive tape with a knife.
NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Be careful not to damage the body.
c. Remove the moulding.
7. REMOVE OUTSIDE REAR DOOR MOULDING
Remove the outside rear door moulding in the same way as the outside front door moulding.
8. REMOVE OUTSIDE QUARTER MOULDING
Remove the outside quarter moulding in the same way as the outside front door moulding.
9. REMOVE OUTSIDE BACK DOOR MOULDING
Remove the outside back door moulding in the same way as the outside front door moulding.
INSTALLATION
1. CLEAN BODY MOUNTING SURFACE
a. Using a heat light, heat the body mounting surface to 40 - 60 degrees C (104 - 140 degrees F).
NOTE: Do not heat the body excessively.
b. Remove adhesive tape from the body.
c. Wipe off stains with a cleaner.
2. CLEAN MOULDING
If reusing the moulding.
a. Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 20 - 40 degrees C (68 - 86 degrees F).
NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
b. Remove the adhesive tape from the moulding.
c. Wipe off stains with a cleaner.
d. Apply new adhesive tape to the moulding as shown in the illustration.
3. INSTALL MOULDING
a. Using a heat light, heat the body and the moulding.
Body: 40 - 60 degrees C (104 - 140 degrees F)
Moulding: 20 - 30 degrees C (68 - 86 degrees F)
NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
b. Remove the moulding release sheet from the face of moulding.
NOTE: When the moulding release sheet is removed, make sure that no dirt or dust can get onto the coated area.
c. Align the bosses with their corresponding holes in the body, and press firmly on the moulding.
NOTE: Do not apply excessive force onto the moulding, but apply steady pressure with your thumbs.
d. Install the moulding.
4. INSTALL ROCKER PANEL MOULDING
Install the rocker panel moulding with the 10 screws.
5. INSTALL FRONT MUDGUARD
Install the front mudguard with the 2 screws and the bolt.
6. w/ Except Full Cover Type:
INSTALL SIDE STEP ASSEMBLY
Install the side step assembly with the 8 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
7. w/ Running Board Lights:
INSTALL RUNNING BOARD LIGHTS ASSEMBLY
Install the running board lights assembly with the 8 bolts and connect the connector.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
