REAR SPOILER BODY INTERFERENCE

Introduction
During high ambient temperatures, some customers may experience a creak/tick sound from the rear hatch area caused by contact between the rear spoiler and the top of the body. New shoulder bolts have been adopted by the factory to correct this condition. Note the new bolt torque specification during bolt installation.

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
1. Remove Back Door Trim Board LH (w/ Power Back Door)
A. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the trim board.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
2. Remove Back Window Panel Trim Upper
A. Using a taped screwdriver, disengage the 7 clips and remove the trim.
3. Remove Back Door Trim Cover LH (w/ Power Back Door)
A. Using a taped screwdriver, disengage the 3 clips and trim cover.
4. Remove Back Door Trim Cover RH (w/ Power Back Door)
5. Remove the Rear Spoiler Bolts
A. Remove the 5 spoiler bolts.
6. Re-Drill the 5 Holes
A. Using a drill, enlarge the 5 holes from 11 mm to 13 mm.
B. Remove the burr from around the holes.
NOTE:
Use proper rust prevention methods/coating after drilling.
7. Install The Updated Rear Spoiler Bolts
A. Install the 5 updated bolts.
5.9 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 52 in..lbf)
8. Reassemble in Reverse Order of Removal.
