Removal Procedure
^ Lay down a plastic sheet before starting repairs on a work bench or floor.
^ Always carry out the work on the sheet to prevent any scratches to the grille assembly.
^ Follow the instructions carefully to NOT scratch the grille during assembly.
1. Apply protective tape on the hood as shown in gray in the illustration.
2. Open the hood.
3. Remove the 5 nuts from the underside of the hood, along with the clip.
Do NOT lose any nuts since they will be used again.
Squeeze the clip at the lower end of the center radiator grille to detach.
4. Detach the protector.
NOTE:
Peel off the protector by pulling it slowly, ensuring the double-sided tape lifts off the surface of the grille in one piece.
OEM Grille Installation:
1. Attach the protector.
A. Use 3M(TM)GPAC or an equivalent cleaning agent to completely remove any dirt or contaminants left over from the double-sided tape where the protector was installed.
CAUTION:
Clean the protector in a well ventilated location, away from any open flame.
B. Peel back the backing paper on the double-sided tape from the center of the protector.
NOTE:
Be careful not to touch the adhesion surface of the protector.
C. Start from the center and adhere the edge of the protector to the grille between the scribe lines on the left side of the grille.
D. Attach the protector along the circumference of the grille.
NOTE:
^ Do NOT apply excessive tension to the protector while attaching it.
^ Be careful NOT to deviate the protector at each corner of the grille.
^ Make sure that the end of the protector finishes between the other side of the scribe lines.
E. Press-fit the protector around the total circumference of the grille with a force of at LEAST 9.8 N (1 kgf).
NOTE:
^ Attach the protector to the grille carefully, so that the protector is NOT misaligned or wrinkled.
^ When the temperature is at 59°F (15°C) or below, use a dryer to warm up the protector and the grille surface area where it adheres before fully pressing down on the protector.
F. Check that there is no gapping or peeling of the protector.
G. Proceed to the installation procedure for attaching the radiator grille.
