REAR SPOILER BODY INTERFERENCE


During high temperatures, customers may experience the rear spoiler on the power back door contacting the vehicle body on opening and closing. Parts have been updated to improve this condition. Please use the updated torque specification in the repair procedure below for the replacement bolts.

2004
model year RX 330 vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:







1. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD LH (W/ POWER BACK DOOR)
a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the trim board.

HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.








2. REMOVE BACK WINDOW PANEL TRIM UPPER
a) Using a taped screwdriver, disengage the 7 clips and remove the trim.







3. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER LH (W/ POWER BACK DOOR)
a) Using a taped screwdriver, disengage the 3 clips and trim cover.

4. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER RH (W/ POWER BACK DOOR)







5. REMOVE THE REAR SPOILER BOLTS
a) Remove the 5 spoiler bolts.







6. DRILL THE 5 HOLES
a) Drill the 5 holes from 11mm to 13mm.
b) Remove the burr around holes
c) Paint 5 holes with Rust - Top W and Touch-Up Paint.







7. INSTALL THE UPDATED REAR SPOILER BOLTS
a) Install the 5 updated bolts.
5.9 N-m (60 kgf-cm, 52 in.-lbf)

b) Reassemble in reverse order of removal.
