Removal and Replacement
Front Seat Assembly LH:
OVERHAUL
CAUTION:
- Wear safety gloves, because the cutting surface of the seatback frame and seat adjuster may injure your hand.
- Work must be started more than 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
(The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.)
- The yaw rate sensor is installed under the front seat RH.
Be careful not to step on the yaw rate sensor after the seat has been removed.
HINT:
- The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.
- Use the same procedures on the RH side as on the LH side.
- When removing/installing and overhauling the passenger seat, check the passenger occupant classification system and perform the 0 point calibration.
1. REMOVE SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER INNER FRONT LH
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws and remove the bracket cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Remove the bracket cover protector by pulling it out in the direction indicated by arrow in the illustration.
2. REMOVE SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER OUTER FRONT
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws and remove the bracket cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
3. REMOVE SEAT TRACK COVER RH
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the track cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
4. REMOVE SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER INNER LH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for RH side.
5. REMOVE FRONT LH SEAT ASSY
a. Remove the headrest.
b. Disconnect the connectors under the seat.
c. Remove the 4 bolts and the seat.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the body.
6. Passenger seat only:
REMOVE OCCUPANT DETECTION ECU
7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH
a. Using a screwdriver, pry out the 2 reclining power seat switch knobs.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Remove the 7 screws.
c. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws and clip, and remove the cushion shield together with the cushion shield inner and cushion shield inner No. 1.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER NO.1 LH
a. Remove the screw and cushion shield from the cushion shield.
9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH
a. Remove the screw and cushion shield from the cushion shield inner No. 1.
10. REMOVE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH
a. Disconnect the connectors.
b. Remove the 3 screws and seat switch.
11. w/ Lumbar Support:
REMOVE POWER SEAT SWITCH ASSY
a. Remove the 2 screws and seat switch.
12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
13. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
a. Remove the 2 clips.
b. w/ Seat heater: Disconnect the seat heater connectors.
c. Disengage the hook and remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover together with the pad.
d. Remove the hog rings and cushion cover.
14. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK BOARD SUB-ASSY LH
a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the seatback board.
15. REMOVE SEAT ARMREST ASSY LH
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the armrest cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Remove the bolt and armrest.
16. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER
a. Remove the 2 headrest supports.
b. Remove the hog rings and seatback cover together with the pad.
c. Remove the hog rings and seatback cover.
d. w/ Side airbag:
Remove the nut and seatback cover bracket.
17. REMOVE LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSY LH
a. Disconnect the connectors.
b. Remove the 2 screws and lumbar support adjuster.
18. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LOWER RH
a. Remove the screw and cushion shield.
19. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LOWER LH
a. Remove the screw and cushion shield.
20. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH (UPPER SIDE)
a. Remove the screw and reclining adjuster cover.
21. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH (UPPER SIDE)
a. Remove the screw and reclining adjuster cover.
22. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH (UNDER SIDE)
a. Remove the 2 screws and reclining adjuster cover.
23. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH (UNDER SIDE)
a. Remove the 2 screws and reclining adjuster cover.
24. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR
a. Disconnect the wire harness connector.
b. Using a torx socket wrench (T30), remove the torx bolt and airbag sensor.
25. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR
a. Using a torx socket wrench (T30), install the airbag sensor with the torx bolt.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
b. Connect the wire harness connector.
26. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER
a. Install the seatback pad.
b. Cover the top of the seatback pad with the seatback cover.
c. Using hog ring pliers, completely install the seatback cover with new hog rings.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the cover. When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as much as possible.
d. Install the 2 headrest supports.
e. w/ Side airbag: Install the seatback cover bracket with the nut.
Torque: 5.5 Nm (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
NOTE:
- For a vehicle with side airbag, the side airbag may not be activated normally unless the seatback cover is securely installed.
- Check that the strap has no twist after installing the bracket.
- Install the bracket securely.
27. INSTALL SEAT ARMREST ASSY LH
a. Install the armrest with the bolt.
Torque: 37 Nm (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)
b. Install the armrest cover.
28. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
a. Install the seat cushion.
b. Using hog ring pliers, install the cushion cover to the cushion pad with new hog rings.
NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the cover.
- When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as much as possible.
c. Install the clip.
29. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
30. INSTALL FRONT LH SEAT ASSY
a. Place the seat in the cabin.
b. Connect the connectors under the seat.
c. Tighten the 2 bolts on the front side of the seat.
Torque: 37 Nm (377 kg.cm, 27 ft.lbf)
d. Tighten the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seat.
Torque: 37 Nm (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)
e. Install the 4 seat track covers.
f. Install the headrest.

32. CHECK SEAT HEATER OPERATION (w/ SEAT HEATER)
33. INSPECT FUNCTION OF FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM
