Safing Sensor: Service and Repair
AIRBAG SENSOR ASSY CENTERREPLACEMENT
1. PRECAUTION
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
3. REMOVE FRONT LH SEAT ASSY
4. REMOVE FRONT RH SEAT ASSY
5. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER FRONT
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER
7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER
9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY RH
12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSY NO.2
13. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSY
14. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH
15. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH
16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
17. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER NO.2
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the console box hole cover No.2.
HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
18. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the console box hole cover.
HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
19. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSY
a. Remove the 6 bolts.
b. Disconnect the console box slide cable.
c. Remove the clamp and disconnect the connector, and then remove the console box assy.
20. REMOVE CONSOLE COVER LOWER
a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Disconnect the connector and remove the console cover lower.
21. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX DUCT NO.1
22. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.2
23. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.1
24. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER
a. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the airbag sensor assy center.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and the airbag sensor assy center.
25. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER
a. Check that the ignition switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
NOTE: Do not start the operation for 90 seconds after removing the terminal.
c. Temporarily install the airbag sensor assy center with the 3 bolts.
NOTE:
- If the airbag sensor assy center has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the airbag sensor assy center with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor assy center, take care that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
d. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.
Torque: 17.5 Nm (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
e. Connect the connectors of the airbag sensor assy center.
f. Check that no play is identified.
g. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.

29. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
