Component Inspection
INSPECTION1. WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSY
a. Check the continuity of windshield wiper switch assy.
1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table.
b. Intermittent Operation Check (w/o Rain Sensor)
1. Connect the voltmeter (+) terminal to terminal C11-3 (+1) of the connector and the voltmeter (-) terminal to terminal C12-2 (EW).
2. Connect the positive battery (+) lead to terminal C11-2 (+B) of the connector and the negative battery (-) lead to terminals C12-2 (EW) and C11-1 (+S).
3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.
4. Connect the positive battery (+) lead to terminal C11-1 (+S) of the connector for 5 seconds.
5. Connect the negative battery (-) lead to terminal C11-4 (+S) of the connector.Operate the intermittent wiper relay and measure the voltage between terminals C11-3 (+1) and C12-2 (EW).
c. Front Wiper Operation Check (w/o Rain Sensor)
1. Turn the wiper switch to the OFF position.
2. Connect the positive battery (+) lead to terminal C11-2 (+B) of the connector, and the negative battery (-) to the terminals C11-1 (+S) and C12-2 (EW).
3. Connect the voltmeter (+) terminal to terminal C11-3 (+1) of the connector and the voltmeter (-) terminal to terminal C12-2 (EW).Turn the washer switch to the ON and OFF position, and measure the voltage between terminals C11-3 (+1) and C12-2 (EW).
d. Rain Sensor Adjust Switch Operation Check (w/ Rain Sensor)
1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table.
2. WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSY
a. LO Operation Check
1. Connect the positive battery (+) lead to terminal 1 (+1) of the connector, and the negative battery (-) lead to terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates with low speed (LO).
b. HI Operation Check
1. Connect the positive battery (+) lead to terminal 4 (+2) of the connector, and the negative battery (-) lead to terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates with high speed (HI).
c. Automatic Stop Operation Check
1. Put the matchmarks on the windshield wiper motor assy
2. Connect the positive battery (+) lead to terminal 1 (+1) of the connector, and the negative battery (-) lead to terminal 5 (E).With the motor being rotated at low speed (LO), disconnect the terminal 1 (+1) to stop the wiper motor operation at position other than the matchmarks.
3. Using SST, connect the terminal 1 (+1) and the terminal 3 (S), and the positive battery (+) lead to the terminal 2 (B) to restart the motor operation at low speed.
SST 09843-18040
4. Align the matchmarks with the windshield wiper motor assy.
3. REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSY
a. Connect the positive battery (+) lead to terminal 1 (+B) of the connector, the negative battery (-) lead to terminal 3 (LS) and rear wiper motor assy body, and check that the rear wiper motor assy operates.
b. Automatic Stop Position Operation Check
1. Connect the positive battery (+) lead to terminal 1 (+B) of the connector, the negative battery (-) lead to terminal 3 (LS) and rear wiper motor assy body. With the motor being rotated disconnect the terminal 3 (LS) from the battery (-), then check that the wiper motor stops automatically at the automatic stop position.
4. HEADLAMP CLEANER SWITCH ASSY
a. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table.
b. Inspect illumination operation.
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to the terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to the terminal 2, then check that the illumination comes on.
5. HEADLAMP CLEANER CONTROL RELAY
a. Inspect headlamp cleaner control relay operation
1. Check that no continuity exists between the terminal 2 and the terminal 5.
2. Connect the positive (+) lead of the battery to the terminal 1, and the negative (-) lead of the battery to the terminal 5.
3. Connect the negative (-) lead of the battery to the terminal 3 and the terminal 4, and check that continuity exists between the terminal 2 and the terminal 5 for 0.8 to 0.9 seconds, then no continuity exists.
4. Disconnect the positive (+) lead of the battery from the terminal 1, and connect the positive (+) lead of the battery to the terminal 1 again.
5. Connect the negative (-) lead of the battery to the terminal 3 and the terminal 6, and check that continuity exists between the terminal 2 and the terminal 5 for 0.8 to 0.9 seconds, then no continuity exists.
