Removal and Replacement

REMOVAL

1. w/ CD Changer Built In The Audio System:
SHIP MODE SETTING
a. Take out all CDs.

NOTE: If they cannot be taken out, do not attempt to take out forcibly. Send the unit for repair.




b. Turn the ignition switch to ACC as pressing the "SEEK UP" and "DISC" switches at the same time.






HINT: When the ship mode is set, "SHIP" must be displayed.

c. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and disconnect the battery negative cable.

NOTE: Connecting the battery negative cable automatically finishes the ship mode.

2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL




a. Using a moulding remover, remove the instrument cluster finish panel.
b. Disconnect the connector.

3. REMOVE CENTER RESISTER
Using a moulding remover, remove the center resister.

4. REMOVE RADIO WITH A/C CONTROL ASSEMBLY




a. Remove the 4 bolts.
b. Disconnect the radio with A/C control assembly cable, and remove the radio with A/C control assembly and the connector.




5. w/ CD Changer Built In The Audio System:
SHIP MODE CONFIRMATION
Check that a metal can be seen from a hole marked "SHIP" on the back of the radio with A/C control assembly.

NOTE: If metal part cannot be seen from a hole on the back of the air conditioner control assembly, repeat "SHIP MODE".

6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATES
7. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIMS
8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIMS
9. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 assist grip plugs, then remove the 2 screws and the assist grip.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Use the same manner described above to the other side.




c. Using a screwdriver, remove the front pillar garnish.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

d. Use the same manner described above to the other side.

10. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD
11. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL




12. REMOVE CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
Using a screwdriver, remove the cluster finish panel, and disconnect the connector.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

13. REMOVE HOOD LOCK AND FUEL LID CONTROL CABLE LEVER
a. Remove the 2 screws and the hood lock control cable.
b. Remove the 2 screws and the fuel lid control cable lever.

14. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 PANEL




a. Remove the screw.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the lower No. 1 panel, then disconnect the connectors.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

15. REMOVE LH LOWER PANEL
Remove the 3 bolts and the LH lower panel.

16. REMOVE COLUMN COVER
Remove the 3 screws and the column cover.

17. REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH




a. Disconnect the connectors.
b. Remove the clamp.
c. Remove the 4 screws and the combination switch.

18. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT




a. Disconnect the connector, the screw and the transceiver finish plate No. 1 assembly.
b. Remove the screw and the No. 2 heater to register duct.

19. REMOVE COMBINATION METER




a. Disconnect the connectors.

HINT: The connectors can be disconnected by loosening the bolts.

b. Remove the 4 screws.
c. Using a screwdriver, remove the combination meter.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

20. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR




a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Remove the glove compartment door, then disconnect the glove compartment door damper clip.

21. DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR




a. Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 1 under cover.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Slide the airbag connector to pull out from the No. 1 under cover.
c. Disconnect the airbag connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

22. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 PANEL
Remove the 3 screws and the lower No. 2 panel.

23. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE PANEL




a. Remove the transfer shift lever knob.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the upper console panel.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

24. REMOVE CONSOLE REAR END PANEL




a. Remove the rear console cup holder box.
b. Remove the 2 screws.
c. Using a screwdriver, remove the console rear end panel.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

25. REMOVE REAR RADIO CONTROL PANEL
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 3 screws and the rear radio control panel.




26. w/o Disc Player Changer, LEXUS Link System:
REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX
Remove the 4 bolts, the 4 screws and the rear console box.




27. w/ Disc Player Changer:
REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX
Remove the 2 bolts, the 6 screws and the rear console box.




28. w/ LEXUS Link System:
REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX
Remove the 2 nuts, the 6 screws and the rear console box.




29. REMOVE CENTER LOWER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
Using a screwdriver, remove the center lower cluster finish panel, then disconnect the connectors.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

30. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE RETAINER
a. Remove the front ash receptacle box.
b. Remove the 2 screws and front ash receptacle panel.




31. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE BOX AND CONSOLE
BOX MOUNTING BRACKET NO. 4
Remove the 4 bolts, front console box and the console box mounting bracket No. 4.




32. w/ Night View:
REMOVE NIGHT VIEW ECU

a. Remove the 3 bolts.
b. Disconnect the connectors.
c. Remove the night view ECU.

33. w/ Night View:
REMOVE NIGHT VIEW DISPLAY




a. Remove the 4 screws.
b. Remove the night view display.

34. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL
a. Disconnect the junction connectors.

HINT: The connectors can be disconnected by loosening the bolts.




b. Disconnect the connectors, then remove the 8 bolts, the 2 nuts and the instrument panel.
c. Remove the screw and the transceiver finish plate No. 2 assembly.

35. REMOVE ECM
36. REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
37. REMOVE NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
38. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR DAMPER
39. REMOVE FLOOR BRACE
40. REMOVE NO. 1 BRACE
41. w/ Night View:
REMOVE NIGHT VIEW BATTERY ECU
Remove the 2 screws and the night view battery ECU.

42. REMOVE REINFORCEMENT

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REINFORCEMENT
2. w/ Night View:
INSTALL NIGHT VIEW BATTERY ECU
Install the night view battery ECU with the 2 screws.

3. INSTALL NO. 1 BRACE
4. INSTALL FLOOR BRACE
5. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR DAMPER
6. INSTALL NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
7. INSTALL NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
8. INSTALL ECM




9. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL

HINT:
- Install the airbag connector between the No. 5 heater to register duct and the center bracket temporarily, then install the instrument panel.
- Remove the airbag connector before installing the lower No. 2 panel.

a. Install the 6 bolts, the 2 nuts and the instrument panel, then connect the connectors.
b. Install the 2 bolts to the front passenger airbag assembly.

Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

c. Connect the junction connectors.

HINT: The connectors can be connected by tightening the bolts.

10. INSTALL TRANSCEIVER FINISH PLATE NO. 2 ASSEMBLY




11. w/ Night View:
INSTALL NIGHT VIEW DISPLAY
Install the night view display with the 4 screws.

12. w/ Night View:
INSTALL NIGHT VIEW ECU




a. Connect the connectors to the night view ECU.
b. Install the night view ECU with the 3 bolts.




13. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE BOX AND CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET NO. 4
Install the front console box and the console box mounting bracket No. 4 with the 4 bolts.

14. INSTALL FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE RETAINER
a. Install the front ash receptacle retainer with the 2 screws.
b. Install the front ash receptacle box.




15. INSTALL CENTER LOWER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
Connect the connectors, then install the center lower cluster finish panel.




16. w/o Disc Player Changer, LEXUS Link System:
INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX
Install the rear console box with the 4 bolts and the 4 screws.




17. w/ Disc Player Changer:
INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX
Install the rear console box with the 2 bolts and the 6 screws.




18. w/ LEXUS Link System:
INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX
Install the rear console box with the 2 nuts, the 6 screws.

19. INSTALL REAR RADIO CONTROL PANEL
Install the rear radio control panel with the 3 screws, and connect the connector.

20. INSTALL CONSOLE REAR END PANEL




a. Install the console rear end panel with the 2 screws.
b. Install the console cup holder box.

21. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL
Install the upper console panel, then install the transfer shift lever knob.




22. INSTALL RADIO WITH A/C CONTROL ASSEMBLY
Install the radio with A/C control with the 4 bolts.




23. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
Connect the connectors, then install the instrument cluster finish panel.

24. INSTALL CENTER RESISTER
Install the center resister.

25. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 PANEL
Install the lower No. 2 panel with the 3 screws.




26. CONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR
27. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR
a. Connect the glove compartment door damper clip, then install the glove compartment door.
b. Install the 2 screws.

28. INSTALL COMBINATION METER




a. Check that the set-in connectors are connected in the installation holes on the instrument panel securely.
b. Place the combination meter on the instrument panel.
c. Install the combination meter by tightening the screws, A, B and C in the order.




d. Tighten the connection bolts.

HINT:
- When the connection is completed, the bolts should turn vainly, causing turning noise.
- Check that the connection check pins protrude from the lower side of the connection bolts.

NOTE: Follow the procedures in the order of (c) and (d). Otherwise, the set-in connectors on the wire harness side and on the meter side might not be connected properly.

29. INSTALL NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT




a. Install the No. 2 heater to register duct with the screw.
b. Install the transceiver finish plate No. 1 assembly with the screw, and connect the connector.

30. INSTALL COMBINATION SWITCH




a. Install the combination switch with the 4 screws.
b. Install the clump, then connect the connectors.

31. INSTALL COLUMN COVERS
Install the column covers with the 3 screws.

32. INSTALL LH LOWER PANEL




33. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 PANEL
Connect the connector, then install the lower No. 1 panel with the screw.

34. INSTALL HOOD LOCK AND FUEL LID CONTROL CABLE LEVER
a. Install the fuel lid control cable lever with the 2 screws.
b. Install the hood lock control cable with the 2 screws.




35. INSTALL CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
Connect the connector and the cluster finish panel.

36. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL
37. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL PAD
38. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH




a. Install the front pillar garnish.
b. Use the same manner described above to the other side.
c. Install the assist grip with the 2 screws, then install the 2 assist grip plugs.
d. Use the same manner described above to the other side.

39. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIMS
40. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIMS
41. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATES
