INTRODUCTION:
Some 2004 - 2005 model year RX 330 vehicles produced in North America, equipped with 4WD, may display evidence of a leak from the transfer case extension housing seal. Manufacturing processes have been improved to prevent this condition.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004 - 2005 model year RX 330 vehicles equipped with 4WD and produced in North America BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Confirm source of leak is the transfer case extension housing seal and NOT another attached component, such as the driveshaft yoke.
2. Refer to ETAS to remove and replace the oil seal assembly:
- 2004 - 2005 model year RX 330 Repair Manual: Transfer: Transfer Extension Housing Type T Oil Seal (4WD): Replacement (RX 330).
3. Check transfer case fluid level.
4. Road test and confirm that there is NO leak from the transfer case extension housing seal.
