Title: POWER BACK DOOR AUTO-REVERSE CONCERNS

Applicable Vehicles: 2005 -- 2006 model year RX 330 vehicles produced WITHIN the Applicable VIN ranges shown.

Introduction:
On certain TMMC-built RX 330 vehicles, customers may complain that the power back door does not operate properly in cold climate conditions. The hatch may auto-reverse and close before fully opening. This condition may be incorrectly diagnosed as an issue with the operation of the power back door motor. Replacing the rear door stays will correct this condition.

Applicable Warranty*: This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.




Rear Stay Components

Repair Procedure
NOTE: Perform the following procedure with the rear door supported.




1. Pry back the top spring clip to release from the ball and socket joint. There is no need to completely remove the spring clip. Pull the door strut off of the top location.




2. Pry back the bottom spring lip to release from the ball and socket joint. Pull the door strut off of the bottom location.




3. Insert the NEW door strut over the bottom mount.




4. Insert the other end of the NEW door strut over the top mount (door side).
