Introduction

Some customers may experience rattle noises coming from the center of the instrument panel at the base of the windshield. The following procedure has been developed to improve the condition.

Applicable Vehicles

^ 2004 - 2006 model year RX 330 vehicles.

^ 2006 model year RX 400h vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

^ 2007 model year RX 350 vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Follow the precautions and instructions to remove the dash pad sub-assembly as identified in the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and year Repair Manual: Instrument Panel/Meter, Instrument Panel Safety Pad Sub-Assembly Precaution and Replacement

2. Pull back the dash pad sub-assembly to expose the defroster nozzle assembly and its 2 locating pins.

3. Apply felt over the pins as shown in the diagram to take up excess slack inside the body holes.

Felt Size:

Length: 55 mm (2.2 in.)

Width: 13 mm (0.6 in.)

Thickness: 1.5 mm (0.1 in.)





4. Reassemble the dash pad sub-assembly.

5. Re-initialize any affected power systems. Refer to the following TSBs:

^ For RX 33O:

^ 2004 model year: TSIB No. PD002-03, "Pre-Delivery Service (PDS)
Information for RX 330"

^ 2005 model year: TSIB No. PD010-05, "Power System Initialization During PDS"

^ 2006 model year: TSIB No. PD009-06, "Power System Initialization During PDS"

^ For 2006 model year RX 400h: TSIB No. PD009-06, "Power System Initialization During PDS"

^ For 2007 model year RX 350:

^ TSIB No. PD006-06, "Initialization of Power Back Door During PDS"

^ TSIB No. PD007-06, "Initialization of Sliding Roof During PDS"

^ TSIB No. PD008-06, "Initialization of Power Window During PDS"

6. Road test to confirm the repair.
