Exterior Moulding / Trim: Service and Repair
Outside Moulding:
REMOVAL
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- When removing the moulding, heat the vehicle body and moulding using a heat light.
NOTE: Do not heat the vehicle body and moulding excessively.
1. REMOVE SIDE STEP ASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the 8 bolts and side step.
b. w/ Running board lights:
Remove the 8 bolts and disconnect the connector. Then remove the side step.
2. REMOVE FRONT FENDER MUDGUARD SUBASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the 2 screws, bolt and mudguard.
3. REMOVE ROCKER PANEL MOULDING ASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the 10 screws.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the rocker panel moulding.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER WHEEL OPENING MOULDING LH
a. Remove the 4 screws.
b. Put protective tape around the moulding.
c. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
d. Cut the double-sided tape with a knife.
NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
e. Detach the 3 clips and remove the moulding.
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR MOULDING OUTSIDE LH
a. Put protective tape around the moulding.
b. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
c. Cut the double-sided tape with a knife.
NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
d. Detach the 14 clips and remove the moulding.
6. REMOVE REAR DOOR MOULDING OUTSIDE LH
a. Put protective tape around the moulding.
b. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
c. Cut the double-sided tape with a knife.
NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
d. Detach the 9 clips and remove the moulding.
7. REMOVE QUARTER MOULDING OUTSIDE LH
a. Put protective tape around the moulding.
b. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
c. Cut the double-sided tape with a knife.
NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
d. Detach the 4 clips and remove the moulding.
8. REMOVE BACK DOOR MOULDING OUTSIDE
a. Put protective tape around the moulding.
b. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
c. Cut the double-sided tape with a knife.
NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
d. Detach the 16 clips and remove the moulding.
INSTALLATION
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- When installing the moulding, heat the vehicle body and moulding using a heat light.
NOTE: Do not heat the vehicle body and moulding excessively.
1. INSTALL OUTSIDE MOULDING
a. Clean the vehicle body surface.
1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.
3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
b. If reusing the moulding:
Clean the moulding.
1. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
2. Remove the double-sided tape from the moulding.
3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
4. Apply new double-sided tape to the moulding, as shown in the illustration.
c. Install the moulding.
1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and moulding.
2. Remove the peeling paper from the face of the moulding.
HINT: After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.
3. Align the bosses with their corresponding holes in the body, and press firmly on the moulding.
NOTE: Do not apply excessive force onto the moulding. Apply steady pressure with your thumbs.
4. Install the moulding.
2. INSTALL ROCKER PANEL MOULDING ASSEMBLY LH
a. Install the rocker panel moulding with the 10 screws.
3. INSTALL FRONT FENDER MUDGUARD SUBASSEMBLY LH
a. Install the mudguard with the 2 screws and bolt.
4. INSTALL SIDE STEP ASSEMBLY LH
a. Install the side step with the 8 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
b. w/ Running board lights:
Install the side step with the 8 bolts and connect the connector.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
