Introduction
Some customers may express concern about excessive dust or powder from the HVAC vents. A newly designed evaporator is available to help reduce this concern. Follow the procedures listed below to remove and replace the evaporator with a new service part.
Warranty Information
APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Production Change Information
This TSIB applies to RX 350 and RX 400h vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown and to ALL 2007 - 2008 model year ES 350 vehicles.

Additional refrigerant service equipment may be ordered by calling Lexus Approved Dealer Equipment (ADE).
Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition.
Check for excessive white dust or powder on the top of the instrument panel and interior surfaces.
^ If white dust or debris IS present check the cabin air filter for damage and for other external sources of debris. Proceed to step 2 for replacement of the evaporator if all checks are OK.
^ If white dust or debris is NOT present there is no need to replace the evaporator.
2. Remove the evaporator.

3. Clean the air conditioning unit blower unit HVAC vents face ducts and defroster nozzle.
A. Use a warm soap and water solution to thoroughly clean the air conditioning unit.
B. After cleaning the air conditioning unit use compressed air to blow out all debris from the blower unit HVAC vents face ducts and defroster nozzle.
Be sure to clean all HVAC vents and passages BEFORE installing the new service part.
4. Install the NEW evaporator.

5. After repair confirm proper operation of the HVAC controls and cooling and heater functions.
