INTRODUCTION:

Some customers may express concern about excessive dust or powder from the HVAC vents. A newly designed evaporator is available to help reduce this concern. Follow the procedures listed below to remove and replace the evaporator with a new service part.

This TSB applies to RX350 and RX400h vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below and to ALL 2007 - 2008 model year ES350 vehicles.

REQUIRED TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Confirm the condition.
Check for excessive white dust or powder on the top of the instrument panel and interior surfaces.
- If white dust or debris IS present, check the cabin air filter for damage and for other external sources of debris. Proceed to step 2 for replacement of the evaporator if all checks are OK.
- If white dust or debris is NOT present, there is no need to replace the evaporator.

2. Remove the evaporator.

Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:

3. Clean the air conditioning, blower unit, HVAC vents, face ducts, and defroster nozzle.
A. Use a warm soap and water solution to properly clean out the air conditioning unit.
B. After cleaning, use compressed air to blow out all debris from the blower unit, HVAC vents, face ducts, and defroster nozzle.

NOTE
Be sure to clean all HVAC vents and passages BEFORE installing the new service part.


4. Install the NEW evaporator.

5. After repair, confirm proper operation of the HVAC controls, and cooling and heater functions.
