Applicability
Introduction
To improve serviceability the No.5 Engine Room W~re is now available as a service part and can be replaced separately from the main engine harness. This wire connects the positive battery terminal to the Engine Room Junction Block.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.
Repair Procedure
1. Disconnect and remove the battery cables from the negative and positive terminals.
Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the battery cables to prevent possible airbag deployment.
2. Remove the battery hold-down bracket and battery.
3. Remove the Junction Block No.2 Engine Fuse Block cover.
4. Remove the two bolts.
5. Disconnect the Junction Block cover (see illustration for detail).
6. Remove the retaining clip for the cable.
7. Gently set aside the Junction Block to expose the inside.
8. Remove the terminal cover inside the Junction Block.
9. Remove the 10 mm bolt holding the cable to the Junction Block.
There are two 10 mm bolts inside the Junction Block. Be sure to unbolt only the one that is attached to the white cable.
10. Remove the electrical tape that is securing the cable to the bottom of the Junction Block.
11. Separate the cable from the positive connector/terminal by removing the nut.
12. Gently pull the cable through the bottom of the Junction Block.
13. Remove the original part number label from the cable. Attach the label to the NEW cable with electrical tape.
14. Remove and attach the cable clip to the NEW cable with electrical tape.
15. Insert the new cable into the bottom of the Junction Block.
To prevent any damage, do NOT twist the cable when installing.
16. Bolt the cable to the Junction Block.
Torque: 4.9 - 5.9 N*m (50 - 60 kgf*cm, 43 - 52 in*lbf)
Be sure to attach the flat end of the cable to the Junction Block.
17. Install the terminal cover inside the Junction Block.
18. Use electrical tape to secure the cable to the bottom of the Junction Block.
19. Install the Junction Block cover.
20. Install the two bolts for the Junction Block.
Torque: 4.9 - 5.9 N*m (50 - 60 kgf*cm, 43 - 52 in*lbf)
21. Install the Junction Block fuse cover.
22. Attach the cable clip.
23. Install the battery cable to the positive connector/terminal. Torque: 9.8 - 15.7 N*m (100 - 160 kgf*cm, 87 - 139 in*lbf)
24. Install the battery and hold-down bracket.
25. Connect the battery terminals.
Torque: 4.9 - 7.8 N*m (50 - 80 kgf*cm, 43 - 69 in*lbf)
26. Perform initialization on all affected Systems.
