How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

ENGINE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM:

HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
HINT: Use this procedure to troubleshoot the engine immobilizer system.
Techstream should be in used steps 3, 4, 5 and 7.

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM
(a) Check hybrid control system.

Result





B -- Go to HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM
A -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (BEAN)
(a) Use Techstream to check for normal function of the multiplex communication system.
(1) (ECU unconnected, communication line malfunctioning) With out code outputs, proceed to A.
(2) (ECU unconnected, communication line malfunctioning) With code outputs, proceed to B.
B -- Go to MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SECTION
A -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output.
(b) Delete the DTC.
(c) Recheck for DTCs. Try to prompt the DTC by simulating the original activity that the DTC suggested.
(1) If DTC does not reoccurs, proceed to A.
(2) If DTC reoccurs, proceed to B Engine Immobilizer System.
B -- Go to DTC chart
A -- Continue to next step.
5. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch on and turn the tester on.
(c) Select item Key SW in the Data List and read the value displayed on Techstream.

Immobilizer:





OK:
Both ON (Key is in ignition key cylinder) and OFF (No key is in ignition key cylinder) appear on the screen.
NG -- Go to DTC B2780
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
(a) If the fault is not listed on the problem symptoms table, proceed to A.
(b) If the fault is listed on the problem symptoms table, proceed to B.
B -- After repair, go to step 8
A -- Continue to next step.
7. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING
(a) Data list / Active test Engine Immobilizer System.
(b) Terminals of ECU Engine Immobilizer System.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
8. ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
9. CONFIRMATION TEST
NEXT -- END
