MAINTENANCE: CHASSIS: GENERAL MAINTENANCE

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

1. INSPECT STEERING LINKAGE
(a) Check the steering wheel free play Steering System.
(b) Check the steering linkage for looseness or damage.
(1) Check that the tie rod ends do not have excessive play.
(2) Check that the dust seals and boots are not damaged.
(3) Check that the boot clamps are not loose.
(4) Check that the steering gear housing is not damaged.
(5) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the steering gear housing.
2. INSPECT STEERING GEAR BOX Steering Linkage
3. INSPECT BALL JOINT AND DUST COVER
(a) Inspect the front suspension upper arm assembly Front Upper Suspension Arm.
(b) Inspect the front suspension lower arm assembly Front Lower Suspension Arm.
4. INSPECT DRIVE SHAFT BOOTS
(a) Check the drive shaft boots for loose clamps, grease leakage, kinks or damage.
5. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
(a) Inspect the automatic transmission fluid and correct or replace as necessary Procedures.
6. INSPECT TRANSFER OIL
(a) Inspect the transfer oil Testing and Inspection.
(b) Replace the transfer oil as necessary Service and Repair.
7. INSPECT FRONT DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEVEL
(a) Check the front differential oil level Replacement.
8. INSPECT REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL
(a) Check the rear differential oil level Replacement.
9. REPLACE ACTIVE HEIGHT CONTROL SUSPENSION FLUID
(a) Discharge the suspension fluid pressure Removal.
(b) Fill the reservoir tank with the suspension fluid Service and Repair.
10. INSPECT SUSPENSION CONTROL ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Inspect the front suspension control accumulator assembly On-Vehicle Inspection.
(b) Inspect the rear suspension control accumulator assembly On-Vehicle Inspection.
11. LUBRICATE PROPELLER SHAFT AND TIGHTEN BOLTS
(a) Lubricate the propeller shaft by referring to the lubrication chart. Before pumping in grease, wipe off any mud and dust on the grease fitting.





(1) For front propeller shaft
HINT: When replacing a spider bearing, be sure that the grease fitting hole is facing the direction shown in the illustration.




(2) For rear propeller shaft
HINT: When replacing a spider bearing, be sure that the grease fitting hole is facing the direction shown in the illustration.





(b) Tighten the bolts of the propeller shaft.
