P006A

1UR-FE ENGINE CONTROL: SFI SYSTEM: P006A: MAP - Mass or Volume Air Flow Correlation Bank 1
P006A - MAP - Mass or Volume Air Flow Correlation Bank 1

DESCRIPTION

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The MIL illuminates when irregular intake manifold pressure is detected due to an intake leak.

HINT
When the DTC is stored, the following fail-safe operations occur:

- Idle up is performed.
- VVT operation is stopped.
- Updating the A/F learned value is prohibited.
- Fuel cut is prohibited.
- ISC flow rate is increased (ISC feedback is stopped).

MONITOR STRATEGY

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS

TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).

4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

6. Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher with the A/C switch and all accessory switches off and the shift lever in P or N.

7. Idle the engine for 30 seconds or more [A].

8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [B].

9. Read the pending DTCs.

HINT
- If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.

11. Input the DTC: P006A.

12. Check the DTC judgment result.

HINT
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN, perform steps [A] through [B] again.

13. If no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or more.

(e) Drive the vehicle at 60 km/h (37 mph) for 5 minutes or more.

(f) Idle the engine for 30 seconds or more.

(g) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

(h) Read the DTCs.

Result

HINT
If any DTCs other than P006A are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

B -- GO TO DTC CHART SFI System
A -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK PCV HOSE (HOSE CONNECTION)

(a) Check the PCV hose connections Testing and Inspection.

OK:

PCV hose is connected correctly and is not damaged.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE PCV HOSE Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK INTAKE SYSTEM

(a) Check the intake system for vacuum leaks Intake System.

OK:

No leaks in intake system.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE INTAKE SYSTEM Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MAP)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / MAP.

(e) Read the MAP value.

Standard:

HINT
Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa. For every 100 m increase in elevation, pressure drops by 1 kPa. This varies by weather (high atmospheric pressure, low atmospheric pressure).

Also, check "Atmosphere Pressure" in the Data List.

NG -- REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR

OK -- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CONTROL THE EGR STEP POSITION)

5. REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR

(a) Replace the manifold absolute pressure sensor Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CONTROL THE EGR STEP POSITION)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or higher.

HINT
- When performing the Active Test, make sure the shift lever is in P or N.
- The A/C switch and all accessory switches should be off.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the EGR Step Position.

(e) Confirm that Throttle Idle Position is ON and check the engine idling condition and the value of MAP in the Data List while performing the Active Test.

HINT
- Do not leave the EGR valve open for 10 seconds or more during the Active Test.
- Be sure to return the EGR valve to step 0 when the Active Test is completed.

OK:

MAP and idling condition change in response to EGR step position as follows.

Standard:

NG -- INSPECT EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY

OK -- CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P006A)

7. INSPECT EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the EGR valve assembly Removal.

(b) Check if the EGR valve is stuck open.

OK:

EGR valve is tightly closed.

NG -- REPLACE EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
