Disassembly and Assembly





DISASSEMBLY OF REAR BUMPER





1. REMOVE REAR BUMPER MOULDING
Remove the rear bumper moulding in a same manner as the front bumper moulding.





2. REMOVE END AND LOWER SIDE RETAINERS
(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the clip.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(b) Remove the end retainer.
(c) Remove five bolts and the lower side retainer.





3. REMOVE NO.1 AND NO.2 SIDE RETAINERS
(a) Using about 3.2 mm (0.126 in.) drill, drill out the rivet heads.
(b) Remove No.2 side retainer.
(c) Remove No.1 side retainer in a same manner.
(d) Remove the gaskets from the retainers.

4. REMOVE UPPER RETAINER
(a) Remove the retainer.
(b) Remove the spacers from the retainer.





5. REMOVE UNDER AND UNDER SIDE COVERS
(a) Using a screwdriver and clip remover, remove the clip.
(b) Slide the under side cover as shown to remove it.
(c) Using a screwdriver and clip remover, remove the clips and the under cover.





6. REMOVE LOWER RETAINER AND REINFORCEMENT
(a) Using a screwdriver and clip remover, remove the clips and lower retainer.
(b) Remove reinforcement.

HINT: Before removing the lower retainer, support the reinforcement with your hand.

7. REMOVE ENERGY ABSORBER

ASSEMBLY OF REAR BUMPER
Assemble rear bumper parts by following disassembly sequence in reverse.

HINT: When installing the rear bumper, check that the space between the body and the bumper is properly sealed by the gasket.





1. INSTALL NO.1 AND NO.2 SIDE RETAINER
(a) Place the retainers in the bumper cover.
(b) Using a riveter, install the rivets.





2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER MOULDING
Install the rear bumper moulding in a same manner as the front bumper moulding.
