SYSTEM: Engine Coolant Temp. Circuit Range/ Performance Problem

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
A thermistor built into the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor changes the resistance value according to the coolant temperature.
If the Engine Control Module records the Diagnostic Trouble Code P0115, it operates the fail safe function, keeping the engine coolant temperature figure at a constant 80°C (176°F).

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DETECTING CONDITION
- 20 minutes or more after starting engine, Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor value is 30°C (86°F) or less. (2 trip detection logic)
