Inspection Procedure

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Connect the OBDII scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester and read value for voltage output of Heated Oxygen Sensor.
- Remove the fuse cover on the instrument panel.





- Connect the OBDII scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to the Data Link Connector 3.
- Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
- Read voltage output of Heated Oxygen Sensor (bank 1 ,2 sensor 1) when engine is suddenly raced. Perform quick racing to 4,000 rpm three times using accelerator pedal.
- Both heated oxygen sensors [(bank 1 sensor 1) (bank 2 sensor 1)] should output a RICH signal (0.45 volts or more) at least once.
- If not OK proceed to step 2.
- If OK check and replace Engine Control Module.
2. Check for open and short in harness and connector between Engine Control Module and Heated Oxygen Sensor
- If OK replace Heated Oxygen Sensor.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
