Inspection Procedure
INSPECTION PROCEDURE1. Check resistance of Crankshaft Position Sensor.
- Disconnect Crankshaft Position Sensor connector.
- Measure resistance of Crankshaft Position Sensor.
Resistance:
Cold 1,630 to 2,740 ohms
Hot 2,065 to 3,225 ohms
- If OK proceed to step 2.
- If not OK replace Crankshaft Position Sensor.
2. Check for open and short in harness and connector between Engine Control Module and Crankshaft Position Sensor.
- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
3. Inspect sensor installation and teeth of signal plate.
- If OK check and replace Engine Control Module.
- If not OK tighten the sensor and replace signal plate.
INSPECTION USING OSCILLOSCOPE
During cranking or idling, check between terminals G22 + and G22 -, NE + and NE - of engine control module. The correct waveforms appear as shown in the upper illustration.
