Inspection Procedure
INSPECTION PROCEDURE1. Check resistance of Camshaft Position Sensor.
- Disconnect Camshaft Position Sensor connector.
- Measure resistance of Camshaft Position Sensor.
Resistance
Cold 835 to 1,400 ohms
Hot 1,060 to 1,645 ohms
- If OK proceed to step 2.
- If not OK replace Camshaft Position Sensor.
2. Check for open and short in harness and connector between Engine Control Module and Camshaft Position Sensor.
- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
3. Inspect sensor installation.
- If OK check and replace Engine Control Module
- If not OK tighten the sensor.
INSPECTION USING OSCILLOSCOPE
During cranking or idling, check between terminals G22 + and G22 -, NE + and NE - of engine control module. The correct waveforms appear as shown in the illustration.
