Inspection Procedure

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Check operation of speedometer.
- Drive the vehicle and check if the operation of the speedometer in the combination meter is normal. The Vehicle Speed Sensor is operating normally if the speedometer display is normal.
- If OK proceed to step 2.
- If not OK check speedometer circuit.
2. Check for short in harness and connector between terminal SP1 of Engine Control Module and body ground.
- Remove glove compartment.





- Disconnect the E10 Engine Control Module connector.
- Check continuity between terminal SP1 of Engine Control Module and body ground.

There should be no continuity

- If OK proceed to step 3.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
3. Check voltage between terminal SP1 of Engine Control Module and body ground.
- Turn Ignition Switch ON.





- Measure voltage between terminal SP1 of Engine Control Module and body ground.

Voltage: 9 - 14 volts

- If OK proceed to step 4.
- If not OK check for open in harness and connector between Junction Box No. 3 and Engine Control Module.
4. Check for open in harness and connector between Junction Box No. 3 and combination meter.
- If OK check and replace Engine Control Module.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
