System Inspection

INSPECTION

1. Verify initial conditions:

- Engine at normal operating temperature
- Idle speed set correctly
- Transmission in neutral position
- Air Conditioning switch ON

Ignition Timing Connector:

2. Using jumper connect terminals TE1 and E1 of the Data Link Connector 1. check that idle-up occurs for approximately 3 seconds. (SST 09843-18020)
- Valve operation is faulty if during the idle-up period the engine speed drops by 100 rpm or more, rough idle occurs, or the engine stalls.
3. Observe the idle speed for approximately 3 to 15 seconds. During this time the Idle-Up Valve should go off, the Idle Air Control Valve half-open and idle-up should occur.

4. Check that the idle speed after approximately 15 seconds, does not vary greatly from the idle speed observed in step 3. The Idle-Up Valve should now be in the ON position.

5. If the idle speed increases by more than 100 rpm; using a 4 mm hexagon wrench turn the Idle-Up Valve adjustment screw to correct the Idle-Up Valve.

6. Remove the jumper from the Data Link Connector 1. (SST 09843-18020)

7. Turn Air Conditioning switch OFF.
