Main Sensor

PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect negative (-) terminal cable from battery.

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.





2. Inspect heater resistance of Main Heated Oxygen Sensors.
- Disconnect the Oxygen Sensor connectors.





- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals +B and HT.

Resistance: 11 - 16 Ohms at 20°C (68°F)

- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the Main Heated Oxygen Sensor.

Torque: 44 Nm (31 ft lb)

3. Reconnect the Main Heated Oxygen Sensor connectors.
4. Reconnect negative (-) terminal cable to battery.

NOTE: This test is designed to inspect the heater of the Main Heated Oxygen Sensor and does not test Sensor output. For further testing or in case of existing Data Trouble Codes, refer to Data Trouble Code Charts.
