Variable Induction Control Actuator: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

1. With 26.7 kPa (7.9 in Hg) of vacuum applied to the Actuator, check that the Actuator rod and the valve moves.
2. One minute after applying the vacuum in step 1, check that the actuator rod does not return. If the operation is not as specified, replace the intake air control valve.

INSPECTION

1. Using a 3-way connector connect a vacuum gauge to the Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS) Actuator hose.
2. Start the engine.
3. While the engine is idling, check that the vacuum gauge needle does not move.

4. Rapidly depress the accelerator pedal to the fully open position and check that the vacuum gauge needle momentarily fluctuates up to approximately 26.7 kPa (7.9 in Hg). Verify that the actuator rod is pulled out.
