PROCEDURE





1. Inspect and clean filter in exhaust gas recirculation vacuum modulator.
- Remove the cap and filter.
- Check the filter for contamination or damage.
- Using compressed air, clean the filter.
- Reinstall the filter and cap.

HINT: Install the filter with the coarser surface facing the atmospheric side (outward).





2. Using jumper, connect terminals TE1 and E1 of the data link connector 1.





3. Keep the engine at 3,500 rpm.
4. Set the transmission shift lever to the N" position.





5. Remove the jumper from the data link connector 1.





6. Check whether the engine rpm increases 100 - 300 rpm under the following conditions:

Engine coolant tempertaure;
Below 53°C (127°F) No increase
Above 55°C (131°F) Increases
