Cold Start Injector: Testing and Inspection
PROCEDURE1. Disconnect negative terminal cable from battery.
CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds trom the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Resistance: 2-4 ohms
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the cold start injector.
3. Inspect injection of cold start injector.
CAUTION: Keep injector clear of sparks during the test.
- Install 2 unions to the injector and delivery pipe with 4 new gaskets and the 2 union bolts. (SST 09268-41045, 09268-41080)
Torque: 15 Nm (11 ft lb)
- Connect hose to the unions. (SST 09268-41045)
- Connect wire to the injector. (SST 09842-30055)
- Put a container under the injector.
- Using a jumper, connect terminals +B and FP of the data link connector 1. (SST 09843-18020)
- Reconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
NOTE: Do not start the engine.
- Connect the tester probes of the jumper to the battery, and check that the fuel spray is as shown. (SST 09842-30055)
NOTE: Perform this check within the shortest possible time.
4. Inspect leakage.
- In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of jumper from the battery and check for fuel leakage from the injector.
Fuel drop: One drop or less per minute
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the battery negative (-) cable and remove the union. (SST 09268-41045, 09842-30055, 09843-18020)
- Reconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
