Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
CONDENSER REMOVAL1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
INSTALLATION HINT: Evacuate air from refrigeration system.
Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
Specified amount:
850 ± 50 g (29.98 ± 1.76 oz.)
2. REMOVE No. 2 AIR CLEANER HOSE
Remove the bolt and the No.2 air cleaner hose.
3. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE
(a) Loosen the union nut and disconnect the liquid tube from condenser.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and liquid tube from condenser.
Torque:
Condenser x Liquid tube:
14 N.m (140 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
Receiver x Liquid tube:
5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
REMOVAL NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.
INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate 3 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.
4. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE TUBE
Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
REMOVAL NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.
INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate a new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.
5. REMOVE CONDENSER
(a) Turn the mountings downward.
(b) Remove the radiator upper mountings.
(c) Push the radiator toward engine.
(d) Push the condenser toward radiator and pull it upward.
INSTALLATION HINT: If condenser was replaced, add compressor oil to compressor.
Add 40 cc (1.4 fl.oz.)
Compressor oil
ND-OIL 8 or equivalent
CONDENSER INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
