Heater Core Case: Service and Repair
HEATER UNIT REMOVAL1. REMOVE COOLING UNIT
Evaporator Case
2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT FROM RADIATOR
REMOVAL HINT: It is not necessary to drain out all coolant.
3. REMOVE WATER VALVE
4. DISCONNECT WATER HOSE FROM HEATER RADIATOR PIPE
INSTALLATION HINT:
^ Push the water hose for the heater radiator pipe onto the pipe until the pipe's marking are hidden.
^ Install a hose clip in a position, as shown in the illustration.
5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REINFORCEMENT
6. REMOVE HEATER UNIT
(a) Disconnect the connectors.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and the heater unit.
HEATER UNIT DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE AIR OUTLET DAMPER CONTROL SERVOMOTOR
Remove the 3 screws and the air outlet damper control servomotor.
2. REMOVE HEATER AIR DUCT
(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Loosen the 2 claws and the remove heater air duct.
3. REMOVE AIR MIX LINK COVER
Remove the 3 screws and the air mix link cover.
4. REMOVE MAX COOL DAMPER CONTROL SERVOMOTOR
(a) Remove the clamp and disconnect the shaft.
(b) Disconnect the connector.
(c) Remove the 2 screws and the max cool damper control servomotor.
5. REMOVE AIR MIX DAMPER CONTROL SERVOMOTOR
(a) Remove the clamp and water valve control cable.
(b) Remove the clamp and disconnect the shaft.
(c) Remove the 3 screws and air mix damper control servomotor.
6. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) After pulling off the clamp, pull out the sensor.
7. REMOVE HEATER RADIATOR UNIT
(a) Remove the 5 screws and the pipe clamps.
(b) Pull out the heater radiator unit with the 2 heater return pipe.
HEATER UNIT ASSEMBLY
Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
HEATER UNIT INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
