Removal and Installation
NOTICE:^ If the wiring connector of the SRS is disconnected with the ignition switch at ON or ACC, DTCs will be recorded.
^ Never use airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace with new parts.
Front Passenger Airbag Assembly Removal And Installation:
1. DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR
a. Remove the glove compartment door finish plate inside the glove compartment.
NOTICE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
b. Pull up the connector.
c. Disconnect the airbag connector.

2. REMOVE THESE PARTS
a. Under panel No.2
b. Glove compartment door

3. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 7 bolts.
b. Remove the front passenger airbag assembly.
CAUTION:
^ Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag door facing down.
^ Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
4. ASSEMBLE AIRBAG DOOR AND FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
CAUTION:
^ Be sure to replace the new airbag door and the new airbag assembly (w/o Airbag door) in combination, not separately.
^ When installing the airbag door, always use new nuts.
^ Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag door or airbag door installation side facing down.
^ Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
^ Make sure the airbag door has no scratches, cracks, peeling or deformation.
^ When installing the airbag door, do not let any foreign particles get into the airbag assembly.
^ When installing the airbag door, do not pinch or otherwise damage the bag.
Front Passenger Airbag Assembly Removal And Installation:
a. Install the airbag door with 3 new nuts.
Torque: 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf)
Front Passenger Airbag Assembly Removal And Installation:
b. Using a riveter, install the 2 new rivets.

5. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Install the front passenger airbag assembly with the 7 bolts.
b. To instrument panel reinforcement diameter = 8 mm (0.32 in.)
Torque: 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
To instrument panel diameter = 6 mm (0.24 in.)
Torque: 5.5 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in. lbf)
NOTICE:
^ Make sure the front passenger airbag assembly is installed to the specified torque.
^ If the front passenger airbag assembly has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the front passenger airbag assembly with a new one.
^ When installing the front passenger airbag assembly, take care that the wirings do not interfere with other parts and are not pinched between other parts.
6. INSTALL THE REMOVED PARTS
NOTICE: When installing the glove compartment door, carefully pull out the airbag wire harness from the glove compartment upper hole.

7. CONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR
a. Connect the airbag connector.
b. Put the connector on the glove compartment door finish plate.
c. Install the glove compartment door finish plate to the glove compartment.
