Ignition Lock Solenoid: Testing and Inspection





1. Inspect key interlock solenoid, as follows:
a. Disconnect the solenoid connector.





b. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals.
Standard resistance: 12.5-16.5 ohms.
If resistance value is not as specified, replace the solenoid.





c. Apply battery voltage positive between terminals. Check that an operation noise can be heard from the solenoid. If the solenoid does not operated, replace the solenoid.





2. Inspect shift lock control switch.





Inspect that there is continuity between each terminal. If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
