Fluid Level Check
1. Keep the vehicle level.2. With the engine stopped, check the fluid level in the oil reservoir. If necessary, add ATF DEXRON II or III fluid.
NOTE: Check that the fluid level is within the HOT LEVEL range on the dipstick of the reservoir cap. If the fluid is cold, check that it is within the COLD LEVEL range.
3. Boost the fluid temperature by doing these steps.
a. Start the engine and run it at idle.
b. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to boost fluid temperature to 80°C (176°F).
4. Check the fluid for foaming or emulsification. If there is foaming or emulsification, bleed power steering system.
5. Check the fluid level rise by following these steps.
a. With the engine idling, measure the fluid level in the oil reservoir.
b. Stop the engine.
c. Wait a few minutes and remeasure the fluid level in the reservoir. The maximum fluid level rise should be 5 mm (0.2 inch). If a problem is found, bleed power steering system.
6. Check the fluid level.
