Rear





REMOVAL
1. Remove the rear wheel.

NOTE: When installing the rear wheel, tighten it to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).

2. Remove the rear drive shaft.
3. Remove the rear brake caliper by doing the following.
a. Remove the two bolts and the brake caliper from the rear axle hub.

NOTE: When installing the rear caliper, tighten the bolts to 104 Nm (77 ft. lbs.).

b. Support the brake caliper securely.

4. Remove the bolt, ABS speed sensor and ABS speed sensor wire haness from the upper suspension arm.

NOTE: When installing the sensor, tighten the bolt to 7.8 Nm (69 inch lbs.).

5. Remove the upper suspension arm after doing these procedures.
a. Remove the nut.

NOTE: When installing the arm, tighten the nut to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.).





b. Using the 09628 - 62011 Special Service Tool (SST), disconnect the upper suspension arm from the axle carrier.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the dust cover.

c. Remove the two bolts, nuts, washers and the upper suspension arm.

NOTE: When installing the bolts, washers, and the nuts, tighten the nuts to 164 Nm (121 ft. lbs.).

Installation Hint:
^ After stabilizing the suspension, torque the bolt.

^ If replacing the nut, assemble the nut and E- ring to the washer with lock protrusion before installing.

UPPER SUSPENSION ARM BALL JOINT INSPECTION

NOTE: Inspect the ball joint for rotation condition, doing the following.





a. As shown, flip the ball joint stud back and forth five times, before installing the nut.
b. Using torque wrench, turn the nut continuously one turn each 2 - 4 seconds and take the torque reading on the fifth turn. The turning torque should be 1.0 - 3.4 Nm (9-30 inch lbs.).
c. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE: After installation, check the ABS speed sensor signal and the rear wheel alignment.

LOWER SUSPENSION ARM AND STRUT ROD REMOVAL
1. Remove the rear wheel.

NOTE: When installing the rear wheel, tighten it 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).

2. Remove the rear drive shaft.
3. Remove the rear brake caliper after doing these steps.
a. Remove the two bolts and brake caliper from the axle carrier.

NOTE: When installing the rear caliper, tighten the bolts to 104 Nm (77 ft. lbs.).

b. Support the brake caliper securely.

4. Remove the two bolts, nuts and the strut rod.

Installation Hint: After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the bolts to 184 Nm (136 ft. lbs.).

5. Remove the NO.1 lower suspension arm after doing the following procedures.
a. Remove the bolt and parking brake cable bracket.

NOTE: When installing the bracket, tighten it to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).





b. Remove the two bolts and center exhaust pipe support bracket.

NOTE: When installing the pipe support bracket, tighten it down to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).

c. Remove the nut.

NOTE: When installing the nut, tighten it to 59 Nm (43 ft. lbs.).





d. Using the 09610 - 20012 Special Service Tool (SST), disconnect the No.1 lower suspension arm from the rear axle carrier.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the dust boot.

e. Place matchmarks on the adjusting cam and body.
f. Remove the No.1 camber adjusting cam, nut, washer, plate and No.1 lower suspension arm.

Installation Hint: After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut to 184 Nm (136 ft. lbs.).

6. Remove the lower suspension arm No.2 after doing these steps.
a. Remove the bolt and nut, disconnect the shock absorber from the No.2 lower suspension arm. 137 Nm (101 ft. lbs.)

Installation Hint: After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut to 137 Nm (101 ft. lbs.).

b. Remove the nut and disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the No.2 lower suspension arm.

NOTE: When installing the link, tighten it to 44 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).

c. Loosen the nut.

NOTE: When tightening the nut, tighten it to 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.).





d. Using the 09610 - 20012 SST, disconnect the No.2 lower suspension arm from the rear axle carrier.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ball joint bolt.

e. Remove the nut.





f. Place matchmarks on the adjusting cam and body.
g. Remove the nut, No.2 camber adjusting cam, washer, plate and No.2 lower suspension arm.

NOTE: When installing the assembly, tighten it to 184 Nm (136 ft. lbs.).

STRUT ROD BUSHING REPLACEMENT





NOTE: Using the 09710 - 30021 (09710 - 03111, 09710 - 03121) SST, replace the strut rod bushing.

NO.1 AND NO.2 LOWER SUSPENSION ARMS BALL JOINT INSPECTION

NOTE: Inspect the ball joint for rotation condition, doing the following.





a. As shown, flip the ball joint stud back and forth five times, before installing the nut.





b. Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously one turn each 2 - 4 seconds and take the torque reading on the fifth turn. The turning torque for the No.1 and No.2 lower suspension arms is 1.0 - 3.4 Nm (9 - 30 inch lbs.).

INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- check the ABS speed sensor signal
- rear wheel alignment
