Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove the exhaust pipe.
2. Remove the propeller shaft.
3. Drain the differential oil.
4. Disconnect the rear drive shafts after doing these steps.





a. Place matchmarks on the two drive shafts and side gear shafts.





b. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 12 bolts and disconnect the two drive shafts from the differential.

INSTALLATION HINT: Apply a light coat of engine oil on the threads of the bolts, and tighten them to 83 Nm (61 ft. lbs.).

c. Support the drive shafts securely.

5. Remove the differential by doing the following.
a. Support the differential with a jack.
b. Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, remove the three hexagon bolts.

NOTE: When installing the bolts, tighten them to 142 Nm (105 ft. lbs.).





c. Remove the two bolts and the lower mount stoppers.

NOTE: When installing the bolts, tighten them to 123 Nm (90 ft. lbs.).

d. Remove the differential.





e. Remove the upper mount stopper from the differential carrier.
6. Inspect for wear and damage.

INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- fill the rear differential with differential oil
