Suspension - Front Control Arm Bolt Torque Revision

FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM INSTALLATION TORQUE

Introduction

The bolt, nut, and torque specification for the Front Suspension Arm, Sub-Assembly Lower No. 1 (LH and RH) have been changed. When servicing this area, identify the bolt/nut in use and torque to the appropriate value listed below.





Refer to the illustration for shape and color information of the previous bolt and the new bolt. Carefully note that the thread of the previous bolt is green and the new bolt is red.

The shape of the previous nut and new nut are the same; however, there is a difference in color. Carefully note that the previous nut is green and the new nut is red.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2003 model year ES 300 vehicles produced BEFORE the following VINs were built with the previous bolt/nut; vehicles AFTER the following VINs were built with the new bolt/nut.

Install Front Suspension Arm Sub-Assembly Lower No. 1 LH Install the front LH lower ball joint assembly to the front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No. 1 LH with the bolt and nuts.

Torque:

Previous Bolt and Nut (Green):

127 N.m (1,295 kgf.cm, 94 ft.lbf)

HINT:
The thread part of the bolt is green, and no strength mark is on the head.

New Bolt and Nut (Red):

75 N.m (765 kgf.cm, 55 ft.lbf)

HINT:
The thread part of the bolt is red, and strength mark (11T) is on the head.

NOTE:
Front Suspension Arm Sub-Assembly Lower No. 1 LH and bolt torque specification are shown in Figure 1 for reference. Information applies to both LH and RH parts.
