Brakes and Traction Control: Description and Operation
System OutlineWhen the vehicle is stopped by using the brake pedal, the brake holding system operates to hold the fluid pressures of the four wheel cylinders at the predetermined level. On the normal road, without the brake pedal being depressed or the parking brake being applied, this system prevents the vehicle from moving. By just depressing the accelerator pedal, the fluid pressures are released and the vehicle can start off gently.
The brake holding system is also useful when the vehicle starts off on an uphill gradient. It prevents the vehicle from rolling back when the brake pedal is released.
