Removal and Replacement

PARKING BRAKE PEDAL

COMPONENTS:

REMOVAL
1. FOLLOW PRECAUTION
(a) Follow the Restraint System Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

3. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
5. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts, and then disconnect the parking brake release cable.

(e) Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, pull out the No. 1 parking brake cable and then remove the control pedal.

8. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE RELEASE CABLE SUBASSEMBLY

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE RELEASE CABLE SUBASSEMBLY

2. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSEMBLY
(a) Connect the No. 1 parking brake cable to the control pedal with the bolt and 2 nuts.
Torque: 19 N*m (195 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf)
(b) Install the clip for the No. 1 parking brake cable.
(c) Temporarily install the adjusting nut and lock nut.
(d) Install the release cable with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
(e) Connect the switch connector.

3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
4. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE
5. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
(a) Install the wheel with the 5 nuts.
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
(b) Install the ornament with the 10 bolts.
Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

6. CHECK PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
7. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
8. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY
9. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
10. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
11. INSTALL DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH
12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

14. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
(a) Check the SRS warning light.
