Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair




Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor













Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.

All vehicles except Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI)

2. Remove the LH catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System Service and Repair.

3. Remove the bolt, nut and the heat shield.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

GTDI vehicles

4. Remove the LH turbocharger. For additional information, refer to Fuel Charging and Controls - Turbocharger .

5. Remove the nut and the heat shield.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

All vehicles

6. Remove the rubber grommet cover.

7. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

8. Remove the bolt and the CKP sensor.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

GTDI vehicles

10. Using the scan tool, perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure, following the on-screen instructions.
