VIBRATION NOISE FROM DOOR MIRROR WHEN CLOSING FRONT DOOR

DESCRIPTION





Some vehicles may experience a vibration noise from the door mirror when closing the front door. The vibration noise is cause by contact between the door mirror and garnish.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Using two (2) types of pads from Noise Repair Kit, cut into the following sizes:

^ (1) Rough surface urethane foam pad; 5 mm (.2 in.) thick: Cut to size 15 mm x 5 mm (approx. 0.6 in. x 0.2 in.).

^ (1) Thin felt pad; 0.25 mm (0.1 in.) thick: Cut to size 15 mm x 10 mm (approx. 0.6 in. x 0.4 in.).





3. Fold door mirror and loosen three (3) screws under mirror.

4. Lift mirror to provide space under mirror.





NOTE:
An assistant may be needed during these steps.

5. Insert rough surface urethane foam pad 15 mm x 5 mm (approx. 0.6 in. x 0.2 in.) into tab hole (lock) under mirror.

NOTE:
^ If hole is already closed with adhesive tape, remove tape.

^ Ensure rough surface urethane foam pad does not stick out of hole.

^ If lock is off when inserting pad into hole, put it back by refitting the garnish.





6. Attach 0.25 mm (.01 in.) thin felt pad, size 15 mm x 10 mm (approx. 0.6 in. x 0.4 in.) over hole.

7. Re-tighten three (3) screws under mirror. Tightening Torque: 2.9 Nm (25.7 in. lb.)

8. Verify repair.
