Interior - Rear Center Seat Bracket Cover Comes Off

Subject: REAR CENTER SEAT BRACKET COVER COMES OFF

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2013 CX-5 vehicles equipped
with a 4:2:4 split type rear seat with VINs lower than JM3KE******140972 (produced before Aug. 1, 2012)

DESCRIPTION





Some vehicles equipped with a 4:2:4 split type rear seat may notice the right-side bracket cover from the rear center seat comes off. This only occurs with the right-side bracket cover, not the left-side bracket cover.





This concern may be caused by the lower edge of the bracket cover hitting the floor carpet when the cover has not been properly installed.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify the customer concern

2. If not already removed, remove the right-side bracket cover.





3. Detach the tabs (A) in the direction of arrows (1), detach the hooks (B) while lifting the bracket cover (C) in the direction of arrow (2).

4. Remove the bracket cover by rotating it on the pivot point (upper part of cover).

CAUTION:
Do not pull the cover horizontally as the cover could be damaged.





5. Remove bolt (A) which secures the right-side bracket (B).





6. Pulling the right-side bracket toward the front of the vehicle and insert the 3.2 mm washer between the bracket and the body.

7. Reinstall the bracket bolt.

Tightening Torque: 27-40 ft. lbf. {37-54 N-m, 3.8-5.5 kgf-cm}





8. Reinstall the bracket cover by fitting the upper part of the cover along the bracket as shown above, then fit the lower part by rotating the cover on the pivot point (A).

NOTE:
If the tabs or the hooks are broken, replace the bracket cover with a new one.

9. Verify the repair.
