DESCRIPTION

On some vehicles, when turning the steering wheel at low speeds (less than 10 mph or stopped) and at a near fully turned position, a rubbing noise may be heard from the front shock absorbers.

New bound stoppers have been introduced in production and a greasing operation was added in assembly to address this concern.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify concern.

2. Replace both bound stoppers with modified parts according to Workshop Manual (section 02-13 FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER AND COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

NOTE:
Prior to installing the new bound stopper, apply a light coating of locally sourced pure silicon grease on the bound stoppers inner contact and bottom surfaces, and along the damper shaft of the front shock absorber as shown in the diagram below.

3. Check front end alignment of vehicle according to Workshop Manual (section 02-11 WHEEL ALIGNMENT PRE-INSPECTION).

4. Verify repair.
