INSECTS (BUGS) IN REAR COMBINATION LIGHT

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

2010-2011 Mazda3 (4 door) vehicles (LED type rear combination light) with VINS lower than JM1BL******489977 (produced before June 1, 2011)

2010-2012 Mazda3 (5 door) vehicles (LED type rear combination light) with VINS lower than JM1BL******522576 (produced before August 23, 2011)

DESCRIPTION





Some vehicles may experience insects in the LED type rear combination light. The insects enter through the clearance between the light and the bulb socket in the trunk. To prevent bug entry into the light, a filter has been added around the bulb socket.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Remove the rear combination light. Refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual section 09-18 REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.





3. Remove and discard the gasket (A). Remove the insect(s) and adhesive from the light.





4. Align the slits (A) on the filter with the shape of the socket (B) and attach the filter.





5. Attach a new gasket (A) to the back side of the rear combination light.

6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

7. Verify repair.
