DESCRIPTION
Some customers may experience that the console lid (A) does not lock. If the console lid is forcibly opened without releasing the console lid latch, the latch may come off. If the latch spring is not installed in a correct position when installing the latch, the latch will not operate.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
NOTE:
After performing the repair, make sure to tell the customer to release the latch whenever the console lid is opened. The repair can only be covered once by warranty.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Remove the latch (A) from the console lid (B).
3. Install the spring (A) to the latch correctly.
a. Catch the edge (B) of the spring (shorter straight portion of the spring) with the boss (C) of the latch (groove side).
b. Put the short straight end of the spring (A) into the groove (B).
c. Push and compress the spring and fit it into the boss of the latch on the opposite side (A).
4. Install the latch into the console lid.
a. Apply the tape (A) on the console lid to prevent damage.
b. Insert the long straight end of the spring (A) into the slit of the console lid (B).
c. Fit the bosses on both sides of the latch (A) into the console lid, then remove the tape.
5. Verify repair.
