Subject;
REAR SEAT CENTER BELT SAFETY LOCK INSPECTION

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2010 Mazda3 5-door

DESCRIPTION

The 5-door has a retractor (A) for the rear seat center belt (B) inside the seat back (C). If a standard type retractor was installed, you would not be able to put the seat back to the upright position if the seat back was folded down with the seat belt fastened into the buckle (D). To prevent this from happening, a different type of retractor is used which stops the belt from locking if only a small portion of the belt is pulled out of the retractor.

Therefore, when checking the safety lock of the rear center belt, pull the belt more than 130 mm out of the retractor with the tongue and the buckle fastened to check if the belt locks.
