2010 MAZDA3 - UNABLE TO CONTROL AUDIO SYSTEM (WITH CD CHANGER)

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2010 Mazda3 vehicles (including Mazdaspeed3) with VINs from JM1 BL** **** 174873 to JM1 BL** **** 189014 (produced from May 29, 2009 to July 17, 2009)

DESCRIPTION





Some vehicles may experience an audio system that cannot be controlled at all from the audio panel, and the backlight of the audio control panel will not illuminate. This is caused by an unstable power supply from the audio unit to the audio panel.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Remove the audio unit. Refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop manual section 09-20 AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.





3. Find the label on top of the audio unit and check the serial number.

^ If the serial number is within the range of 1619404 - 1629562, go to the next step.

^ If the serial number is NOT within the range of 1619404 - 1629562, refer to the Workshop Manual for troubleshooting.





4. Separate the audio panel from the audio unit and replace the audio unit with a modified one.

5. Install the audio unit.

6. Verify repair.
