Lock position
Location
The R/P lock is located in the floor shift.
Task
Depending on the preconditions, the R/P lock prevents a shift away from selector [ever position "P" or a shift to the selector lever position "R" from "N".
Design
The R/P lock consists of
The locking disc (69) for the R/P lock and shift detent which is rigidly connected to the selector lever
The lock lever of the R/P lock (90)
The R/P locking magnet (89)
Function of R lock
At driving speeds in excess of approx. 10 km/h the P/R locking magnet (89) is actuated by the electronic selector lever module control module (N15/5). The R/P lock lever (90) is turned to the lock position (shift from "N" to "R").
The tab on the lock lever (R lock) (90c) locks the locking disc for the R/P lock and shift detent (69) against the cam (R lock) (69c). The selector lever (80) cannot be moved to the "R" position.
Function of P lock
The selector lever position "P" is locked whenever the R/P locking magnet (89) is not actuated by the electronic selector lever module control module (N15/5). The prerequisites for this are as follows:
No voltage supply to the electronic selector lever module control module (N15/5) and Brake pedal not depressed
When these requirements are met, the R/P lock lever (90) is in the lock position (P lock).
The tab on the lock lever (P lock) (90b) locks the locking disc for the R/P lock and shift detent (69). The selector lever cannot be shifted away from position "P".
