GF28.55-P-3000B Transfer case oil supply, function

Component Identification:

The transfer case has its own oil system for lubrication and heat dissipation.

A rotor-type pump (7) on the intermediate shaft (2) supplies the bearing, upper sprocket and planetary gearset with lubricating oil via oil cooling lines in the intermediate shaft and output shaft/rear-wheel drive (3).

The bearing of the output shaft/front-wheel drive along with the lower sprocket and link chain run in the oil sump.

Metal grinding dust and swarf are collected by magnet (17) integrated in the transmission housing.

The transfer case has lifetime lubrication.

The oil used is transmission oil (the same oil as for automatic transmission 722.6).
